Random stuff

Seems like the weekend flew by, as they all do. This weekend I

*met my sister and her kids at their motel in Pleasant Hill and got to spend time with them.
*went to a birthday party for our friends' 2 year old son
*think I finally got the boys outfitted for baseball-lots of stuff to get!
*did several loads of laundry
*went to church
*got our 12 year old to swallow a pill (finally!!!)
*removed pictures from 2 magnetic albums and sorted them in picture boxes
*made a new recipe (peanut butter cake with peanut butter frosting)- it looked so good, but was a little on the dry side
*started reading a book by Gracia Burnham-she's coming to our church to speak in May, and I was so excited to find her book at the 1/2 Price Book Store. She and her husband were captured and held hostage in the Philippine jungles for over a year. In the end, her husband was killed. In the Presence of Thine Enemies was her first book about their hostage experience. In To Fly Again, the book I just got, she talks about how she has coped after the tragedy.
*took a nice long Sunday afternoon nap

And now I'm back to just trying to keep my head above water...

Happy anniversary...

to two of my very favorite people in the whole world. They have truly modeled a Godly marriage, and have been a wonderful example to me. Love you lots!

Thought I'd post a few layouts I've done recently. You can click on them to see them more closely. The pictures here just don't seem to do them justice. It seems like scrapbooking is always on the mind, but doesn't get done as often as I'd like. Now that I have everything moved downstairs to the "cat pan suite" (as I lovingly refer to it - I share my little scrapbooking nook with the litter box!) I can keep a layout on my desk and work on it a little at a time. Now I just need the time! I was able to go to an all-day fundraiser crop here in Carlisle at the school a few weeks ago, so I accomplished quite a bit there.
The clock layout is of my family, of course! I have come to realize how grateful I am for the fun we can have when we're all together. The more people I talk to, the more I realize how this is not the way it is in all families! We had found these fake glasses in a pile of stuff from the move, and part of the day's entertainment was everyone trying them on! I especially like Dan's expression! The top layout was pictures of us cleaning out the house before getting it on the market. Everyone pitched in and worked together, however it was very emotional packing up my childhood home. I plan to do another layout just writing down specific memories from/in the house over the years.
I just love this last picture of Brennan. It's one of my very favorites. This was the last day of swimming lessons last year, and he was just enjoying the sunshine (and his sucker from the teacher!). I know it's hard to read, but I journaled around the outside of the page. Maybe someday I'll figure out how to get a neat little border around my pictures, and maybe even scan something straight! Or get this all to lay out nicely (which I've been messing with and can't line the pictures up right for some reason. Grrr! A graphics design guru could have a heyday with this amateur attempt at technology.
And I'll leave tonight with one last thought. As I mentioned earlier in the post, I just don't seem to have time to scrapbook. In a way, that's true because I work and have responsibilities at home to attend to. My boys take up a lot of time with their activities, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I love that! But I have a quote posted on my memo board in my entry way that reads, "You will never find time for anything. If you want time, you must make it." Charles Buxton I definitely believe that to be true. I say that I don't have time to exercise, but the truth is, I don't want to make time at 6:00 AM to do it! I may say I don't have time to do my devotions, but I probably had time to sit at the computer and surf. I know that I have been given 24 hours in my day, just like everyone else, and what I get accomplished is due to the choices I make. So, if I want time to scrapbook, or exercise, or read my Bible, or anything else, I will make wise choices, and I am the one responsible for whether it gets done or not. So, I'll jump down off my soapbox, and stop rambling for now!

This takes him back...

about 30 years. This picture was actually taken today...exactly 48 hours after Easter. You see, I always get the boys the biggest chocolate bunny I can find (by the way, Dollar General had these for $5 a piece! definitely the best price for the size) Anyway, this is the scenario. Bradley's is the bunny on the left- untouched. He will savor it a nibble at a time, lasting him until close to summertime, perhaps. Brennan, on the other hand, owns the bunny on the right. He began eating on it immediately. Each day after school, the bunny is in his hands almost before his coat is taken off. I have to limit each feasting (only eat the ear today, just down to his bowtie, etc) or the entire bunny would be wolfed down in a sitting. His will likely be gone tomorrow, and Bradley's will taunt us for weeks, months even.

As Gary saw these today, he laughed and thought about his childhood. One of these bunnies was Gary's, and one was his brother Kevin's-one of them savored it a little at a time, while the other one was a bit more impetuous! Any guess as to which bunny would have been Gary's? Like father, like son. Bradley and Gary are quite a pair!

I'm making progress!

I'm working tonight on adding pictures here. Next I want to see if I can fancy up the banner on here.

Thought I'd post a pic from Easter. It was a quiet day. We attended 9:45 church, and back home for grilled ribeyes and potatoes. Even though there were flurries in the air, Gary bundled up and grilled anyway! The boys played playstation in the afternoon and the adults napped. Of course, there were some pictures and Easter baskets to round out the day.

My first post!

I just wrote a post- now I can't seem to get it to display! I am a technical illiterate- me trying to get this thing going ought to be good... but I am determined to learn! It's after 11 now, so I need to get to bed. The night owl in me has loved spring break and staying up late, but reality dawns its ugly head tomorrow morning when the alarm will go off at 6:30 AM (only to be greeted by my hand pressing the snooze button a couple of times). I have to say that it sure would be easier to be a morning person!

Later-
Kate
